Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center
Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center has been a participant and beneficiary of the LI2Day Walk to Fight Breast Cancer for the last 13 years. In that amount of time our Medical Center has been awarded over $330,000 which has been used to support both the growth of Brookhaven’s Women’s Imaging Center and development of a Breast Cancer Survivorship Coalition in 2014, that supports our NAPBC accredited Breast Cancer Center of Excellence.
LI2Day events and the funding it provides is crucial to our ability to offer Coalition programs such as “Lend a Helping Hand” which provides screening and non-medical assistance such as food cards, household bill payment, wigs, lymphedema compression garments, and transportation for treatment. In addition, our Education and Outreach programs focus on breast cancer awareness and wellness.
Ask anyone who has participated in a LI2Day fundraising event “why” they participated, and you will find, among other things, that we all share a common goal: We need to raise breast cancer awareness and generate more funds for research, we need to assist those with cancer, and offer continued support to survivors and their families. LI2Day events are fun! Whether you participate in a walk, a run, a paint night, or other event, the friendship and comradery that we all share is unparalleled. We’d love for you to join our team!
