What’s New for 2020!

LI2DAY is excited about the changes for the Walk in 2020!  In an effort to make the Walk more accessible to everyone on Long Island, we relocated the walk to Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, New York.  We’ve added some new features to the walk this year and made improvements that will make participating in this event memorable.

New this year:

*New Name – No Ordinary Walk in the Park to Fight Cancer
*New Date – Sunday, May 17th, 7 a.m. – 12 noon

*New Location – Sunken Meadow State Park, Kings Park, NY
*New Distance – 10K (that’s a little over 6 miles) – a scenic walk along the beach, through the park with beautiful water views along the way.
*Reduced Registration Fee – $50*
*Reduced Minimum Fundraising Commitment – $250 (but the more you raise, the more money there is to assist Long Islanders battling cancer.)
*A Remembrance Ceremony by water’s edge
*Memorial Flower Tribute and Candle Lighting Ceremony

Yes, we’ve made some changes but one thing that hasn’t changed is that 100% of What’s Raised Here Stays Here!
By participating in the new and improved event – No Ordinary Walk in the Park 10K to Fight Cancer– Sunday, May 17, 2020, you are helping to raise awareness and much needed funds to fight cancer on Long Island.  Whether you are walking, volunteering your time or celebrating your survivorship, we hope that you will join us for a community event like no other.

Walking in the 10K
When you register to walk and commit to raising funds you give Long Islanders hope as they battle cancer. Form a team, train with a friend or join one of the many LI2Day training walks. Check with your company as they may participate in a Matching Gift program which can help double your fundraising initiative.

Registration Fee*
May 1st – MAY 14TH

*Registration fee is non-refundable or transferable.  The fee is used to cover walk expenses enabling 100% of the donations you raise to go directly to our beneficiary organizations.

Walker Fundraising Commitment
Walkers commit to fundraising a minimum of $250 (that’s 10 people donating just $25!) Refer to our fundraising tab for fundraising tips and inspirational stories.  Raising over the $250 is extremely important to funding programs that help with the day-to-day battle with cancer. So please keep going with your fundraising efforts even if you’ve reached the minimum.

If you are signing up with a team – everyone is encouraged to raise their minimum however as a team your fundraising efforts are pooled together. For example, if you have 5 walkers on the team, then the team needs to raise a total $1,250.
