LI2DAY has awarded $238,000 in scholarships in over 15 years !

The LI2Day Scholarship and the Maria A. Sciara Scholarship are administered by LI2DAY. Please note that if the student is a survivor of cancer, he/she is also eligible to apply for these scholarships. Pay careful attention to our eligibility requirements as indicated on the links below.

Eligibility requirements are as follows.

LI2Day Scholarship: This is a $2,500 scholarship that will be awarded to 5 graduating seniors in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The student must be a survivor of breast cancer and/or other women’s cancers, or reside with a parent or guardian who is a survivor of breast cancer and/or other women’s cancers, or have resided with a parent or guardian who has passed from breast cancer and/or other women’s cancers.

Maria A. Sciara Scholarship: This is a $2,500 scholarship that will be awarded to 3 graduating seniors in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The student must be a survivor of any cancer other than breast cancer and/or other women’s cancers, or reside or have resided with a parent or guardian who is a survivor of any cancer other than breast cancer and/or other women’s cancers, or have resided with a parent or guardian who has passed from any cancer other than breast cancer and/or other women’s cancers. Those aspiring to become teachers will be given extra consideration for this scholarship but pursuing an education to become an educator IS NOT required to apply.

Applicants for either scholarship must reside in Nassau or Suffolk County.

• The application and all accompanying materials must be submitted ONLINE ONLY. No incomplete applications will be considered.
• The due date for both applications is April 2, 2019. There will be no exceptions.

The awarding of these scholarships will be based on an evaluation of the following criteria:

• Content and completeness of Application, including school, community, and outside activities
• Quality and content of Personal Statement (this criteria is very important, 1-page or less)
Letter of Recommendation
High School educational effort and definite plans for 2019-2020 Academic Year

Please read eligibility requirements carefully: 

Applicant must be:

• A resident of Nassau or Suffolk County, New York,
• Enrolled in high school full-time
• A graduating senior
• Have applied and received acceptance to either a two- or four-year College or University
LI2DAY Scholarship: is a survivor of breast cancer and/or other women’s cancers, reside with a parent or guardian who is a survivor of breast cancer and/or other women’s cancer or resided with a parent or guardian who passed from breast cancer and/or other women’s cancer.
Maria A. Sciara Scholarship: is a survivor of cancer other than breast cancer, reside with a parent or guardian who is a survivor of any cancer or resided with a parent or guardian who has passed from
any cancer (other than breast cancer and/or other women’s cancer)

The applicant is responsible for ensuring that all items listed below are submitted online by April 2, 2019.

• Completed application and personal statement (ONE PAGE OR LESS)
• One (1) letter of recommendation
• Copy of official high school transcript
• Proof of acceptance in educational program for 2019-2020 academic year
• Extracurricular typed written list

2019-2020 Scholarship Applications will be posted in the October 2018.
